The end of the bankroll

well, the bankroll is done, due to obvious bad bankroll management and a big loss at franks cash game...

heres my some info about it
After an initial depost of $20, I only made 1 deposit after that ($15)(after a withdrawl)
I made 5 withdrawls totaling $110 (mostly christmas gifts etc.)
I had 7 Winning sessions totaling $225
I had 6 Losing sessions totaling $180(half of which was my final cash game) ($40 of which was touranments)

So technically the bankroll isnt "dead" but I havent made enough re-deposits to make up for my withdrawls.
I will continue to keep records on my win/losses, but as far as achieving my goal I can clearly see that it is going to be extremely difficult and require alot of luck...(considering the run of cards lately I could be in for it)

speaking of luck, I have powerball tickets for tonights drawing(yes its 5:45 AM on Wednesday) and since my odds are incredibly rare to win, If I hit it I will give every person who comments on this post $5,000...

Limping with high pairs and getting paid

I wasnt involved in this hand, however Mike Amoriello(spelling?) had pocket queens and limped.

.50/1 game. Two callers. (Pot=$3)
Flop Q T 3
Mike bet $2, one caller (pot=$7)
Turn Q T 3 K
Mike bet $2, called (pot=$9)
River Q T 3 K 4
Mike bet $5 randy called and Mike won $19 with a set of Queens. (Dunno if Randy showed but I think he had KT or QK(maybe AQ).

I like the play here, especially since he had been playing tight aggressive pre-flop most of the night. Changing up your game is always good. The thing about this play is I wouldnt expect him to get paid because he flopped top set with two limpers. No one is going to put him on a set, and no one is going to put him on top pair with a good kicker. So he is going to get paid if anyone hits anything. All he can hope is that their hand improves giving them a second best hand. I am suprised he got only two other limpers in though, because the table was pretty tight. Good bets on the flop and turn and I like the $5 on the river giving him odds to call with top pair.

The Bankroll

Ok so I am now making an attempt to build a bankroll so I will be able to consistantly play in the $1/$2 game. Suggestions for a bankroll for $1/$2 vary from $800-$3000 depending on who you ask. I am gonna reach for the lower end of that. My goal is to start with $20 and to try and get to $1000 by January 15. I know this sounds out of line but hopefully I can pick up some tournament wins along the way.
Big weekend coming up as alot of my bankroll is invested into it. On Saturday is franks tournament(winner gets $230) and on Sunday is Tadley and Smittys tournament. Both should be good times and a cash game is following the Sunday tournament. I plan on playing alot this break so i could really use a boost this weekend.

Heres a little story about the .25 .50 game that I'm pretty happy about. I've entitled it: I really do get respect
Flop comes J x x rainbow and I hold 85hearts. This kid Scott bets out $3 into a $6 pot and I make it $15 to go.(all-in) He takes awhile a lays down QQ... WOW. talk about getting away with a terrible read/play. Anyway at least it shows I get some respect...

For everyone who just read that and was left saying "Who the fuck cares about your bluff Mesisca." how about you leave a comment or email me a hand situation and Ill put my take on it... I would seriously love to do it but havent got any yet...

The Sucker Bet

The Sucker Bet is a very effective move in both smaller stakes and larger stakes no limit holdem. There is one use for it, and its to "suck" out one last bet from your opponent when you believe his hand is so weak that only a small bet will get them to call. One of the reasons it is so widely used is because there are many outcomes from this sucker bet that are either positive or advantageous to you as a player.
The biggest advantage of a sucker bet is that many times it will encourage a raise. For example, you have QT and the flop comes AKJ. You bet half the pot and your opponent calls. Turn is a Q (no flush possibility) and now you check hoping he made two pair or a set, or that he bets out his hand. Your opponent checks. Now you have to be thinking your opponent is either slowplaying you with two pair or better, or is afraid of the straight. Since you have the nuts, and he checked, you cannot know if his hand is weak or not(he could be holding 88). So you fire out a 1/4 the pot sized bet on the river. The worst case scenario that can happen here is that he only calls.
Why isnt him folding the worst scenario? Because if he folds you get to protect your hand, and now no one knows how you just played the nuts.
The biggest reason for firing this bet out is hoping he may have had or caught two pair or better and raises you. Even sometimes, they will raise you because your bet looks weak and they think top pair is good.

Bluffing with a sucker bet.
Once you have added a sucker bet to your arsenal you are then able to use the sucker bet as a bluff. I only suggest doing it when the conditions are right:
1st Condition:Your opponent must know or remember that you like to sucker bet.
2nd Condition:You should be heads up, I do not advise the sucker-bet-bluff in multi-way pots.
3rd Condition:The stakes have to mean a little something to your opponent. Many times your opponnent will call just to see your cards for cheap.
