So I finally got to play a cash game last night, I cant tell you the town because I have no idea where it was, exit 11 off of 295 is all i could tell you. So, kind of far, but I hadnt played in awhile and I was itching to play. Kilgus had told me about it a couple of times before but I never felt like driving the distance, but finally after not being able to play for song long I decided to go. He told me the game was a good game, and I agree, the people there are all nice people, as far as the play, I would call it a little easier/looser game than Nat's Turnersville game.
I bought in for $100 and was 3rd in chips at a 5 handed table to start. I grinded out my stack taking some chips off of "johnny cash" after he called down with JT on a board of 7 9 J 9 3 and I had 69. At this point my stack was at around $150 when the following hand came up:
The game is now 7 handed, Kilgus is UTG and straddles for $4. I am immedietly behind kilgus and pick up AQd. I make it $15 to go. It is folded around to Kilgus who calls. the flop comes 4d 5d x. Kilgus checks and I bet $25(give or take 5 i cant remember) Kilgus takes a while and calls. The turn comes 4d 5d x Qc. Kilgus checks and I bet out $60 and he takes awhile and folds.
Now my stack is over $200 and the moneymaker of the night happened. I think it only went around once and we are in the same positions, Mucci is to my left Kilgus to my right and he has straddled for $4. I pick up Qd 9d. Kilgus makes a comment about me raising his straddle again, and Mucci says something along the lines of no dont do that, I call the $4 and Mucci makes it $15. Kilgus calls and since I have position on him and know I can outplay Mucci postflop to a point where his position doesnt matter I wasnt in bad shape and could get paid.
The flop comes 7d 8d Tc
Kilgus checks, I check, Mucci bets out $25. Kilgus calls $25 and I raise to $100. Mucci has $60-70 left and calls, and Kilgus calls/all in. It was weird how it happened because kilgus had $40 in cash in play but I had him covered in chips, but the $100 bet did not cover his entire stack, and he flipped his hand and said I have the nuts right now, and I said "call" anyway.
Before running the hand out lets take a step back. I still think that after seeing his cards I have to call. It is obvious Mucci has a set or QQ KK AA. at this point the pot is $45 preflop + $100 from me, $85 from mucci, and $100 from kilgus = $330. Kilgus had around $30-$40 more, and its obviously an easy call even knowing he has the nuts. The worst possible case scenario now after knowing Kilgus has Jc 9s is that Mucci has Tx Td. In that situation I am still 31% to win the pot and that is in the worst possible case scenario. What really happened in Mucci had AA. I win this hand 38% of the time. and that is obviously giving me correct odds to play it the way I did, and if I put Mucci on KK or AA which I did without a diamond, and even if I knew kilgus had J9, I am 43% to win, which is more than enough to make the play I did.
The turn was 7d 8d Tc 4d and I had it locked up. Im pretty sure the river gave Mucci trip aces but I am not sure it could have been an 8 too i forget. Either way I took down the $400 pot. grinded it out until 11pm and then left, up exactly $400 on the night.
Not my biggest cash ever, but definitly my biggest profit per hour played in a session (4 hours, $100 an hour).
Franks TOC isnt going to be for awhile but I should be playing in a cash game at least once a week now so expect updates soon.
