Limping with high pairs and getting paid

I wasnt involved in this hand, however Mike Amoriello(spelling?) had pocket queens and limped.

.50/1 game. Two callers. (Pot=$3)
Flop Q T 3
Mike bet $2, one caller (pot=$7)
Turn Q T 3 K
Mike bet $2, called (pot=$9)
River Q T 3 K 4
Mike bet $5 randy called and Mike won $19 with a set of Queens. (Dunno if Randy showed but I think he had KT or QK(maybe AQ).

I like the play here, especially since he had been playing tight aggressive pre-flop most of the night. Changing up your game is always good. The thing about this play is I wouldnt expect him to get paid because he flopped top set with two limpers. No one is going to put him on a set, and no one is going to put him on top pair with a good kicker. So he is going to get paid if anyone hits anything. All he can hope is that their hand improves giving them a second best hand. I am suprised he got only two other limpers in though, because the table was pretty tight. Good bets on the flop and turn and I like the $5 on the river giving him odds to call with top pair.
